UFC Vegas 108 has a new main event with the card just five days away.
Amir Albazi and Tatsuro Taira were scheduled to scrap in a five-round flyweight fight to headline the Las Vegas card, but multiple people confirmed to MMA Fighting that the matchup is no longer happening. Albazi was ultimately forced off the card for undisclosed reasons
With Albazi out, Taira is now set to meet Road to UFC winner and undefeated prospect Hyun Sung Park in the new main event on Saturday. UFC officials announced that pairing on Monday.
The fight comes together on incredibly short notice with Park taking the fight after putting together a perfect 10-0 record to start his career. Since winning the Road to the UFC flyweight tournament, Park has rattled off three straight wins inside the octagon including a first-round submission win over Carlos Hernandez back in May.
In his three wins in the UFC, Park has finished every opponent but he’s taking a decided step up in competition for this matchup. Park was originally scheduled to face one-time title challenger Steve Erceg in August but he’ll get Taira instead in a main event.
There’s no word yet on whether or not Erceg is expected to stay on the Aug. 9 card or not against a new opponent.
The fight serves as Taira’s first appearance since October 2024 when he lost a heartbreaker to Brandon Royval in a five-round battle. That ended Taira’s unblemished resume but he’ll look to bounce back on Saturday when he faces Park in the main event.
Additional changes to the card include Felipe Bunes taking on Rafael Estevam after Andre Lima was removed from the fight. Francis Marshall has also been removed from the card and his featherweight fight against Austin Bashi was scrapped.
Finally, Torrez Finney was forced out of his scheduled matchup against Azamat Bekoev. With no replacement secured, Bekoev instead faces Contender Series veteran Yousri Belgaroui at the upcoming UFC Vancouver event on Oct. 18.
