Max Holloway played Kendrick Lamar to Ilia Topuria’s Drake in his latest response to the UFC featherweight champion.
For the past few weeks, the 32-year-old Hawaiian heard Topuria constantly mention his name while adding conditions onto booking a potential fight between them. Topuria demanded that Holloway put his “BMF” title up for grabs or he would move onto the next contender in line.
On Wednesday, Topuria took to Twitter to also proclaim he never passed on a rematch with former featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski but he was definitely interested in the fight with Holloway.
In closing, Topuria stated “Let’s keep this simple: Do you want to fight? If the answer is yes, there’s nothing more to discuss. Bring my belt and your pillow.”
I never turned down the rematch with Alex as the UFC has never offered me this fight. As I’ve said many times before, I will be the first to knockout Holloway. Let’s keep this simple: Do you want to fight? If the answer is yes, there's nothing more to discuss. Bring my belt and…

That drew a fiery response from the usually soft-spoken Holloway, who rarely goes out of his way to talk trash toward any potential opponent in the UFC.
He obviously made an exception for Topuria.
“Bro, you’re the one making this hard. Ennnnooouuggghhhh already,” Holloway wrote on Twitter. “‘I’ll ‘bring your belt.’ The bitching motherf*cker. All you are doing is putting words together now. You’re spiraling.”

Holloway pushed for the fight against Topuria immediately after delivering one of the most memorable knockouts in history when he demolished Justin Gaethje with one-second left on the clock in their fight at UFC 300.
Despite his newfound standing at lightweight following that win, Holloway preferred to return to 145 pounds to reclaim the title he held for nearly three years.
Meanwhile, Topuria has been bouncing back and forth between various opponents ever since winning the title with a stunning knockout over Volkanovski in February.
Initially it appeared he would shift gears into an immediate rematch with Volkanovski considering the Australian’s long reign as champion, which included multiple wins over Holloway.
That fight didn’t immediately materialize, especially after it looked like the UFC wasn’t planning on going to Topuria’s home country of Spain in 2024, so he switched his attention to Holloway.
The proposal for that fight came along with the demand that Holloway put his “BMF” title up for grabs or he would move onto a different opportunity.
Judging by Holloway’s latest response, he’s more than happy to put his belt on the line just to shut Topuria up once and for all and now perhaps they can actually get down to business to book the fight for later this year.
