Conor McGregor might finally be back on the comeback road.
If McGregor’s recent social media activity is to be believed, the former two-division champion has officially re-entered UFC drug-testing protocol, which could make him available for a return to action in 2026.
“The Notorious” posted a video to Instagram with a caption reading, “I gave my first blood test that is what the plaster is on my shoulder. I am ECSTATIC! I’m in SHAPE!”

He also shared images of what appeared to be blood and urine testing on Instagram Stories, though the veracity of the images cannot be confirmed. According to the official UFC Anti-Doping website, McGregor has yet to be logged with an official test in 2025.

McGregor, 37, recently told The Schmo he had resumed drug-testing in anticipation of fighting on a proposed UFC White House card, which President Donald Trump and UFC CEO have both said is in the works for the United States’ 250th Independence Day celebration in July 2026. Several other fighters have expressed interest in being part of the event, including the recently retired Jon Jones.
Should McGregor return next July, it will mark his first fight in five years. McGregor most recently fought at UFC 264 in Las Vegas, where he lost a trilogy bout to rival Dustin Poirier after breaking his leg in the opening round. He was actually scheduled to return at UFC 303 in June 2024 against Michael Chandler, but had to withdraw from that booking due to a toe injury.
McGregor, one of the biggest stars in combat sports history, has remained in the headlines for various reasons. He is currently the part-owner and one of the faces of the popular BKFC promotion, recently had to deal with a fire at his Black Forge Inn in Dublin, Ireland, and is currently the subject of a civil suit accusing him of sexual assault in Miami (in addition to having already been found liable for sexual assault in a different 2019 incident in Dublin).
