LAS VEGAS—Brandon Royval takes on a late-notice replacement opponent in Joshua Van at UFC 317 but once again he’s found himself as an underdog according to some oddsmakers. But that’s not an unfamiliar situation because Royval—despite his standing in the division where the UFC has him ranked as the No. 1 contender in the division—feels like he’s constantly overlooked by fighters, fans and everyone else in between.
“I think I’m the most disrespected fighter in the UFC,” Royval said during UFC 317 media day. “I think it’s been shown over and over again. Anytime a money line comes out, I think I’ve been favorite against Matt Schnell and never again in the UFC, my whole entire career it’s been that way. LFA, I was always the underdog. Really nothing’s different but I feel like I get continuously disrespected by the fans and whoever the odds maker is.”
Check out the rest of Royval’s comments from media day as he prepares to face Van on the main card on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena.
