At the Ryan Garcia vs. Rolly Romero weigh-ins for Friday’s fight, Ryan Garcia and Rolly Romero will step onto the scale Thursday afternoon in New York City.
Garcia (24-1, 1 NC) and Romero (16-2) must hit the welterweight limit of 147 pounds for Friday’s headlining fight.
In the co-main event, Devin Haney (31-0, 1 NC) takes on Jose Ramirez (29-2).
This is Garcia’s first in-ring appearance since his fight with Haney over a year ago. That bout was shrouded in controversy, due to Garcia’s erratic behavior in the lead-up to the fight, his egregious weight miss, and a subsequent failed drug test that led to a decision win over Haney later being overturned to a no-contest. Garcia heads into Friday’s contest having just completed a one-year suspension from competition for his failed test.
Romero, a former WBA super lightweight champion, has alternated wins and losses in his past five fights. This past September, he won a 10-round unanimous decision over Manuel Jaimes.
