Rose Namajunas is going home with the biggest payday for anybody on the UFC Atlanta card this past weekend after the former strawweight champion earned $500,000 for her win over Miranda Maverick.
On Monday, the Georgia Athletic & Entertainment Commission confirmed salaries for UFC Atlanta to MMA Fighting with Namajunas leading all fighters on the card.
Following a tough loss in her previous outing to Erin Blanchfield, Namajunas bounced back with a solid showcase against Maverick in the three-round fight. As for her salary, Namajunas earned $250,000 to show along with another $250,000 to win, per the commission.
On the other side, Maverick took home $125,000 after her four-fight win streak came to an end with the decision loss to Namajunas. She also revealed afterwards that she suffered a torn ACL in her knee, which means Maverick could potentially be sidelined for the next year in recovery.
In the main event, Kamaru Usman took home $300,000 for his dominant victory over Joaquin Buckley, which accounts for his first win in nearly four years. Usman landed numerous takedowns and effectively mauled Buckley on the ground to get the job done and he’s now right back in the mix for a potential title shot in the near future.
As for Buckley, he earned $150,000 in a losing effort on Saturday night.
Despite dropping a decision to Raoni Barcelos on the main card, former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt still took home $275,000 for his effort. Prior to the event, Garbrandt revealed he just recently inked a new multi-fight deal to stay with the UFC after he was originally on the final bout on his contract heading into UFC Atlanta.
Veteran welterweight Michael Chiesa took home $300,000 for his win over Court McGee on the prelims. While it wasn’t the most exciting fight on the card, Chiesa took home the victory along with a hefty payday with $150,000 to show and another $150,000 for the win.
