UFC Vegas 107 has undergone some more changes ahead of Saturday’s card.
The promotion announced Wednesday that an illness has scratched MarQuel Mederos from his scheduled lightweight bout with Bolaji Oki, and that Michael Aswell now steps in on less than a week’s notice to face Oki at this weekend’s Fight Night event.
Aswell (10-2) makes his promotional debut and looks to win his second straight bout. “The Texas Kid” competed on Dana White’s Contender Series this past August and lost a split decision to Bogdan Grad before bouncing back with a decision victory against fellow DWCS veteran Dorian Ramos at Fury FC 105 in December.
Oki (7-0) makes his third octagon appearance after going 1-1 in his first two promotional outings. “The Zulu Warrior” picked up a split decision in his UFC debut against Timmy Cuamba, but was submitted in his sophomore bout by Chris Duncan at UFC Paris this past September.
UFC Vegas 107 is headlined by a pivotal flyweight tilt between Erin Blanchfield and the returning Maycee Barber, who competes for the first time in over 14 months.
