Merab Dvalishvili might not fully understand the 100 men vs. 1 gorilla challenge.

The strange debate went viral this week with celebrities, influencers, and seemingly everyone on social media weighing in on whether an army of men could defeat one of nature’s most powerful creatures.

Unsurprisingly, UFC fighters have had plenty to say about it, including Dvalishvili, who said in a video that he could get the job done all by himself.

“One gorilla?” Dvalishvili said. “That’s easy. I’m smart. I’m strong. I’m training everyday, you think I cannot take one gorilla?

Asked about his potential strategy, Dvalishvili believes his trademark wrestling attack is key to overpowering a great ape.

“Shoot,” Dvalishvili said. “Take him down. Boom, boom. Easy. I think I can take one gorilla.”

Dvalishvili remained undeterred when reminded of the sheer size of a gorilla, taking a moment to think before stating the ideal takedown technique for the situation.

“Six-hundred pounds?” Dvalishvili said. “Maybe inside trip.”

Watch the video below for more 100 men vs. 1 gorilla reactions from the combat sports world.

Bo Nickal: “Give me, like, three of me and I think we’ll take him out. Easy.”

Brandon Moreno: “Yeah, easy. Me alone.”

Jamahal Hill: “If you had a .22 and you shot a gorilla, that’s not going to do shit but piss it off, right? So what the f*ck are your first and your feet going to do?”

Mikey Musumeci: “One hundred percent, one hundred men could take down a silverback gorilla. What we’re going to do is, though, we’re going to sacrifice a few of them.”

Punahele Soriano: “The first wave of guys coming in, I picture the gorilla just like, smush, just like their heads in a row, like crrrrrrrrrssssh.”

I’d play it.

FINAL THOUGHTS

One hundred average dudes ain’t beating a gorilla, come on, man. Keep in mind, I’m factoring in psychological factor, like when the first few guys get creamed, that’s just going to annihilate morale. Not to mention cause a large chunk of the survivors to just scatter and try to escape the battlefield.

One hundred trained fighters? Hmm, more compelling, especially if we have some real athletes in there. You could talk me into it, though if my life depended on it, I’m still picking the gorilla.

Now let’s hope this debate disappears by the time UFC 315 fight week kicks off. - Lee
