Melquizael Costa’s decision win over Julian Erosa now looks even more impressive.
Costa earned his third win of 2025 in the featherweight main card opener of UFC Vegas 106 on Saturday at the UFC APEX. The 28-year-old earned his fourth straight victory, but it came at a bit of a price.
Following the victory, UFC CEO Dana White shared a video on his Instagram stories showing a nasty gash on one of the wrinkles on Costa’s toe. While it seemed like a cut at first, the person working on Costa’s toe peeled it back a touch, and you could see the inside of the area.
Check out some still shots from White’s video below.

The good news is that Costa’s toe got stitches to close the nasty wound, which White also shared.

“Melk Cauthy” has looked like a player in one of the promotion’s deepest divisions, as he has earned a trifecta of wins over an 85-day span. Prior to his hard-fought win over Erosa, Costa earned a decision win over Christian Rodriguez at UFC Mexico, along with back-to-back submission wins against longtime UFC veteran Andre Fili and Shayilan Nuerdanbieke.
Costa is 5-2 in the octagon, with the lone promotional losses coming to Steve Garcia and Thiago Moises — which took place in his short notice UFC debut.
