Jean Silva has been talking a lot ahead of his grudge match with Bryce Mitchell and that continued at the scale, despite missing weight.
At Friday’s official UFC 314 weigh-ins, Silva came in at 147 pounds, 1 pound over the limit for a non-title bout. He was vocal on the scale as he stripped down and weighed in inside a box, seemingly still fired up for the Mitchell fight.
Silva arrived at the end of the initial one-hour weigh-in window and can weigh in a second time with clearance from the Florida commission.
The same is true for Nora Cornolle, who came in at 138 pounds (two pounds over the non-title limit) for her bantamweight bout against Hailey Cowan.
This is the second weight miss for Silva and Cornolle. Silva weighed in at 147.5 pounds for a bout with Charles Jourdain in June 2024 and Cornolle weighed in at 138.5 pounds for a bout with Melissa Mullins in April 2024.
Should the bouts proceed as catchweights, it is not yet known what percentage of the offending fighters’ purses will be forfeited as penalty.
For the main event, Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes both made 145 pounds as they compete for a vacant featherweight title.
Michael Chandler and Paddy Pimblett also successfully made weight, both coming in at 156 pounds for the five-round, non-title co-main event.
