Ronda Rousey may not have plans to ever fight again, but the former UFC champion and UFC Hall of Famer still has the skills that made her one of the biggest stars in the history of the sport.
After welcoming her daughter to the world a couple of months ago, Rousey promised to document the work she’s doing after shying away from the process when she had her first child with husband and fellow UFC veteran Travis Browne. Rousey vowed to share her journey to help others in a similar situation after she refused to even post pictures of her body after giving birth the first time around.
“Crazy to think now that I never shared these pics cause I was afraid of people comparing my post-baby-bod to my fight-camp-form in a cruel way,” Rousey wrote on Instagram. “Now it’s obvious the one unfairly comparing was me — holy shit what an idiot I was, I’d be so proud to get back to that point now.
“So this time I’m going to try and be a little more brave and not go through this journey in secret but share it in hopes it helps anyone out there going through something similar.”
As she’s been hitting the gym, Rousey got back into her martial arts with a new video she posted that showed her hitting focus mitts and even some grappling exchanges with past opponent Cat Zingano.
Rousey faced and defeated Zingano in what was her fifth title defense as bantamweight champion back at UFC 184. It was a stunning victory after Rousey secured a fight-ending armbar just 14 seconds into the opening round.
She showed off some of those grappling skills in the video while thanking Zingano for working with her as she shakes out the rust while adding, “I forgot how fun it could be.”
While she’s back in the gym again, Rousey has made it clear her fighting days are done, especially with the history of concussions that ultimately led to her putting both MMA and professional wrestling behind her.
