Umar Nurmagomedov is on the road to recovery.
Following his loss to bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili in the co-main event of UFC 311 this past Saturday, Nurmagomedov mentioned in his post-fight interview that he believed he broke his hand in the opening round. Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz later shared photos of the fighter’s injured hand.
The previously unbeaten Nurmagomedov underwent surgery to address the injury this week and he shared an X-ray image of his hand post-procedure via Instagram Stories on Thursday.

In the X-ray, there’s a clear visual of a rod having been inserted into Nurmagomedov’s index finger.
It is not known how long the injury will keep Nurmagomedov out of action. According to the official UFC 311 post-fight medical suspension list, the 29-year-old could be out of competition for up to six months. However, an earlier return is possible pending clearance from a physician.
