PFL reveals dates, details for new tournament format in 2025

Professional Fighters League announced more details on its new tournaments after walking away from its traditional playoffs format.

PFL revealed on Wednesday that it will hold eight tournaments in 2025, airing live on ESPN and ESPN+ in the United States, confirming the $500,000 pay for each winner. In total, the promotion said it will distribute more than $20 million dollars to the fighters.

PFL will have tournaments at heavyweight, light heavyweight, middleweight, welterweight, lightweight, featherweight and bantamweight. On top of that, it will include women’s flyweight division.

The tournaments will begin in April, with four events taking place that month — April 3, 11, 18 and a date yet to be determined. The winners advance to three-round semifinal matches on June 12, 20 and 27.

Unlike previous years, when PFL held a single event to crown all season champions, three cards are expected for August to hold tournament winners in five-round bouts, on Aug. 1, 15 and 21.

The location of each card is still to be revealed. The roster will of 64 competitors and the pairings will be announced by the PFL in February. The 2024 season champions in PFL were Denis Goltsov, Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov, Shamil Musaev, Gadzhi Rabadanov, Timur Khizriev and Dakota Ditcheva.
