This is the UFC 308 live blog for Shara Magomedov vs. Armen Petrosyan, the opening main card fight this Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
Entering the UFC last year with plenty of hype around him, the undefeated “Shara Bullet” has yet to really make a major impression in the UFC. Magomedov has racked up three straight wins in the promotion, but still awaits that standout moment that marks him as a true contender at 185 pounds. Given a main card slot on a major pay-per-view event, the onus is on Magomedov to prove he’s worth the hype.
Petrosyan was an accomplished Muay Thai practitioner before transitioning to MMA in 2018 and earning his way into the UFC with a contract-winning performance on Season 5 of Dana White’s Contender Series. Since then Petrosyan has been up and down, with a couple of solid victories but also tough losses against his most difficult opponents. Now Petrosyan gets another opportunity to prove he’s more than just a replacement-level talent.
