Chris Barnett had a rough night at the office in his fight at UFC 308.
The lovable heavyweight returned from two year absence but received a rude welcome after Kennedy Nzechukwu blasted him with punches to end the fight in the opening round. Perhaps the bigger concern for Barnett is the torn hamstring he suffered in defeat after his leg gave out on him during the fight.
The injury was first reported by Kevin Iole on Twitter.
During the broadcast, the commentary team attempted to dissect when Barnett may have suffered the injury after it appeared that he may have hurt his leg after jumping up in the air and landing awkwardly during his introduction in the octagon. Replays showed Barnett landing gingerly and then stumbling backwards towards the cage.

There was also a moment when Barnett threw a spinning heel kick and his other leg appeared to twist and give out on him during the exchange.
No matter when it happened, Barnett stayed down in the octagon writhing in pain for several moments after his fight was stopped. He eventually got help from his coaches and ringside officials as he limped out of the cage with assistance to get back to the locker room.
The severity of the injury and potential recovery time won’t be known until Barnett undergoes further testing.
