Morning Report: Francis Ngannou tells Jake Paul ‘let’s be real,’ Mike Tyson will ‘beat you up’

Francis Ngannou expects a rough night out for Jake Paul on Nov. 15.

A health scare for the legendary boxer Mike Tyson may have delayed his surprise return to professional action against Paul this past July but wouldn’t do so permanently. The “Problem Child” and “Iron Mike” are rebooked for the AT&T Stadium spectacle on the aforementioned date and Tyson is receiving support from his peers.

Having trained with Tyson before his boxing debut against Tyson Fury last year, Ngannou recently saw firsthand where the legend is physically. The former UFC heavyweight champion was on Paul’s podcast with him yesterday and wasn’t afraid to tell him to his face what will happen on fight night.

“Yeah, I do [think he’ll beat your ass],” Ngannou told Paul on BS w/ Jake Paul. “Listen, I have seen Tyson move around just to show me stuff. He was like, ‘This footwork moves like this,’ and I was like hold on, like, calm down (laughs). He’s still got it. Either way, I think Mike Tyson will beat you up.

“We’re talking about Mike, bro. Mike is something else. He’s a specimen.”

Tyson, 58, hasn’t fought since he had an exhibition against his fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. However, Tyson’s last professional bout came in 2005 when he lost in the sixth round to Kevin McBride.

Although Paul didn’t receive a positive response from “The Predator,” he didn’t take it negatively.

“I love it when people stand on business and say the other person’s gonna win, I like it,” Paul responded. “It makes it fun. He’s my boy, too.”

Paul, 27, still fought in July without Tyson. Instead, another Mike filled the “Iron” void as BKFC star “Platinum” Mike Perry acted as the replacement. Unfortunately for Perry, he lost via sixth-round TKO, giving Paul his 10th victory in 11 fights.

Ngannou (17-3, 0-2 in boxing) has gotten to show off his boxing skills with the help of Tyson in two fights since his final UFC appearance in January 2022. For his return to caged combat, he can do so again as he’ll collide with Renan Ferreira at PFL Super Fights PPV on Oct. 19.

If Paul joins Ngannou in MMA and the PFL at some point, he believes some potential is visible. That doesn’t mean he’ll beat Tyson in the interim.

“Mike will move from this side to this side without you knowing at exactly which moment,” Ngannou said. “Everything [you have to watch out for]. Knowing Mike, I just believe that Mike will beat him. It’s not betting against him, it’s just what it is. If he would have been in another circumstance, I’d be like, ‘Okay, let’s go, Jake.’ But this I’m like, ‘Bro, let’s be real.’

“I haven’t seen him fight [in MMA] but I think he would do good. He’s been improving pretty good in boxing and I think if he’s doing the same thing in MMA, he will get there. People keep counting you out a lot of times then you come back and I think that’s like something you really take personal. ‘Okay, I’m gonna prove you wrong.’ Which be working so good for you.”
