Mike Perry plans to leave Tampa this weekend with a lot more than he came with.
Perry faces Jake Paul in an eight-round cruiserweight boxing match in the main event of Saturday’s event at Amalie Arena. Following his open workout on Wednesday, Perry promised to bring a few extra things home to Orlando with him,
“I’m taking home the W’s, I’m taking home the money, and I’m taking home Jake’s head, let’s go,” Perry said.
Perry has been an incredible success story since parting ways with the UFC, becoming the face of BKFC and winning all of his bare-knuckle bouts — including knockout wins over past UFC champs Eddie Alvarez and Luke Rockhold, along with one-time UFC title challenger Thiago Alves.
While Paul may have the pro boxing experience, Perry believes his overall fighting experience will prove to be the big difference in the fight.
“Listen, [I’ve fought] every year for the past 10 years — MMA, bare-knuckle boxing, and I’m an undefeated king of violence,” Perry said. “I smash guys who have never been smashed before.
“Jake lost a little baby fight to Tommy Fury, but I’m here to smash him. Jake can box, but I can fight. What do you do to a boxer? You fight him. You pull him into the deep waters, and you wring his neck.”
While many believe Perry is playing with house money this Saturday, a win for the BKFC star would be massive. “Platinum” sees an upset win over Paul opening any door he wants for the future, and plans to unlock them.
“Anything I want is possible,” Perry explained. “Anything I want to happen can happen. I’m excited for the opportunity to fight this guy. He’s got all the people watching, all the cameras, and they should’ve been watching me for years because I’ve been pouring my heart into this sport, and I give everything I’ve got into training so that I can come and perform for the fans on fight night.
“Nobody fights like ‘Platinum’ Perry, and all of the ‘Platinum’ fans know what time it is.”
