A lightweight clash is set for the summer in Las Vegas.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between Viacheslav Borshchev and James Llontop is set for the UFC’s Fight Night event on Aug. 24, which is expected to take place at the UFC APEX.
Borshchev looks to get back on track following a second-round submission loss to Chase Hooper at UFC St. Louis in May. Prior to that, “Slava Claus” went unbeaten in two straight — including a second-round TKO victory over Maheshate, as well as fighting Nazim Sadykhov to a majority draw in the Fight of the Night at UFC 295 this past November at Madison Square Garden.
Llontop makes his second octagon appearance, and is in search of his first promotional win. In his most recent outing, “Goku” was submitted by fellow promotional newcomer Chris Padilla at April’s UFC Vegas 91 event.
