Raul Rosas Jr. continues to grow up in the octagon as the 19-year-old prospect wrapped up an impressive win over Ricky Turcios at UFC Louisville on Saturday.

After fighting his way out of a rear-naked choke attempt in the opening round, Rosas returned fire in the second after he wrestled Turcios to the ground and then applied his own world-class grappling game. This time around, Rosas snatched a rear-naked choke of his own but there was no escaping with Turcios tapping out with the end coming at 2:22 in the second round.

“Dana, $100g’s, it’s time to go big!” Rosas shouted after his win. “I’m 19 years old now. I want to buy my mother a house, it would be such a blessing to be able to do it right now.

“I don’t know who [is next] but September in the Sphere baby, let’s go!”

There was bad blood between the bantamweights when the fight started with Turcios refusing to touch gloves and shouting an expletive at Rosas. That didn’t help him stop an early takedown, however, with Rosas putting Turcios on the canvas less than a minute into the opening round.

Turcios eventually managed to scramble free and he actually took Rosas’ back and nearly locked on a rear naked choke. Rosas survived and then reversed positions and nearly wrapped up a submission of his own just before a frantic first round ended.

Rosas wasted no time going right back to the same spot to start the second round after getting the takedown and wrapping on the body triangle. With Turcios trying to roll free, Rosas got his arms in position for another rear naked choke at first on the chin and then slipping under to fully apply the submission.

Turcios tried to resist for a moment but then had no choice but to tap out or go to sleep.

It was a mature performance from the teenager as he continues to learn and evolve with every fight in the octagon. With UFC 306 landing at the Sphere in Las Vegas to celebrate Mexican Independence Day for the second year in a row, Rosas seems like a perfect candidate for that card as he looks to improve on his 9-1 record following this latest victory.
