Matheus Nicolau is finally on the verge of a UFC return.
The longtime flyweight contender and his fellow UFC Vegas 91 headliner Alex Perez both made weight at Friday’s official weigh-ins, rendering their main event official. Nicolau tipped the scales at 125.5 pounds, while Perez weighed in at 126 pounds, both meeting the 126-pound limit for a non-title flyweight contest.
Nicolau has been out of action for more than a year after repeated attempts to book a matchup against Manel Kape have fallen through. Nicolau was once again set to face Kape at UFC Vegas 91, however Kape ultimately withdrew and Perez stepped in on short notice.
Nicolau suffered a first-round knockout loss to Brandon Royval in his most recent outing in April 2023. Perez has lost three straight bouts, including a decision setback to Muhammad Mokaev in March.
In the co-main event, light heavyweights Ryan Spann (205.5) and Bogdan Guskov (204.5) both hit the mark for their 205-pound tilt.
Two fighters on the card missed weight on their first attempts: David Onama weighed in at 148.5 pounds, 2.5 pounds over the featherweight limit for his main card bout against Jonathan Pearce (146), and James Llontop tipped the scales at 156.5 pounds, a half-pound over for his undercard match against Chris Padilla (154.5).
It is not yet known whether Onama and Llontop will attempt to weigh in again.
