Conor McGregor is officially back and undergoing drug tests ahead of a potential comeback.
According to the official UFC Anti-Doping website, as of Aug. 1, McGregor has registered his first test session of 2025. The test was first noted by Jed I. Goodman.

This marks McGregor’s first test since 2024 when he was tested 11 times, primarily in preparation for a scheduled bout against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 that was to take place in June 2024. McGregor ended up withdrawing from that bout due to a toe injury.
The news comes on the heels of McGregor stating he was back in the UFC drug-testing pool earlier this week. He shared images to social media of himself apparently getting tested, writing, “I gave my first blood test that is what the plaster is on my shoulder. I am ECSTATIC! I’m in SHAPE!”
McGregor, 37, has expressed interest in competing on a potential UFC White House event, which has been proposed by President Donald Trump and UFC CEO Dana White in the hopes it can be put together for July 2026, when the United States commemorates its 250th Independence Day celebration.
Should McGregor make a comeback on that date, it will mark five years since his most recent appearance. McGregor was sidelined for a lengthy period of time after breaking his leg in a trilogy bout with rival Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021 and is yet to come close to a return to action outside of the cancelled UFC 303 booking.
While McGregor has continued to find success in ventures outside of the UFC, including as part-owner of BKFC and with a starring role in the 2024 remake of Road House, he has also further tarnished his reputation with his ongoing legal troubles. Most recently, McGregor was denied an appeal in a civil case in which he was found liable for sexual assault in an incident in his native Dublin, Ireland in 2018.
