UFC releases veteran heavyweight Parker Porter

Veteran heavyweight Parker Porter has been released from the UFC four months from his eighth octagon fight.

Multiple people with knowledge of the move, who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the situation, confirmed the news to MMA Fighting after the algorithm-based X account UFC Roster Tracker first reported it.

In August, Porter suffered a knockout loss to Junior Tafa at UFC Singapore, sending him back to the drawing board after a knockout win over Braxton Smith at UFC 288; Smith later tested positive for testosterone, per the U.S Anti-Doping Agency.

Porter’s UFC career started with a knockout loss to Chris Daukaus at UFC 252, but he then rebounded with three straight wins, outpointing Josh Parisian, Chase Sherman and Alan Baudot. Before signing with the promotion, he racked up a 10-5 record on the regional scene, in 2008 losing by knockout to a young up-and-comer by the name of Jon Jones.
