Lany Silva scored a knockout of the year contender at LFA 201 this past Friday in Cajamar, Brazil, and she now hopes to be rewarded with a shot in the UFC.
Silva knocked Rose Conceicao out cold in the fifth round to claim the LFA strawweight championship and the finish went viral online.
“I can’t explain the feeling,” Silva told MMA Fighting of the online reaction to her win. “We always want to win, and to win a belt is even bigger, but when we win in a fashion that goes viral and you’re now known for your hard work, it’s inexplicable. It’s so good.”
Conceicao was 7-1 in the sport going into the LFA 201 main event, with her only defeat being a decision at Dana White’s Contender Series. Silva said her coaches broke down Conceicao’s tape and saw a big opening for head kicks.
“I thought it would come faster,” Silva said. “We had a great strategy, but I felt a bit insecure during the fight, maybe getting taken down or countered, but [Andre Lima] ‘Mascote’ literally slapped me and woke me up between the second and third rounds. I came back more alert and more aggressive. Had I been like that from the start, I believe we would have ended the fight earlier.”

Silva said “everything happened so fast” and she’s now “world champion of a great promotion” at age 22. With a record of 7-1, and riding a three-fight winning streak, Silva expects to get a call and join teammates Mascote Lima and Tallison Teixeira in the UFC sometime this year.
“Now I’ll prepare my heart for when the UFC calls, because I can see it’s going to be hard to believe that too,” Silva laughed. “I feel ready, no doubt about it. I re-watched the fight and saw I have a few things to work on, but I’ll work hard to improve. If the [2025 season] of the Contender Series ends by September, I’ll have plenty of time to sharpen my game and be more complete then I already am by then. But it would be better to sign straight to the UFC.”
