Top 15 heavyweights Sergei Pavlovich and Jairzinho Rozenstruik are set to meet at the UFC’s return to Saudi Arabia, which is scheduled in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Feb. 1.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Tuesday. MMA Mania initially reported the matchup.
Pavlovich returns in early 2025 looking to stop a two-fight skid after falling to Tom Aspinall in a short-notice interim heavyweight title fight and then suffering a decision loss to Alexander Volkov back in June at the first UFC Saudi Arabia card.
Prior to those losses, Pavlovich had rattled off six straight wins, all by first round knockout including finishes over Curtis Blaydes and Tai Tuivasa.
As for Rozenstruik, the veteran heavyweight finally got some momentum on his side with back-to-back wins over Tuivasa and Shamil Gaziev in his most recent appearances in the UFC. Consistency has been Rozenstruik’s biggest struggle going 3-3 overall in his past six fights.
Now Rozenstruik gets a chance to face a higher ranked opponent in Pavlovich as the heavyweights prepare to meet in Saudi Arabia in February.
While the card is booked for Feb. 1, no main event has been announced yet for the show.
