Jared Gooden was foiled by the scale again.
At the official morning weigh-ins for UFC St. Louis, Gooden was unable to step to the scale due to a medical issue, the UFC announced Friday. His preliminary welterweight bout with Kevin Jousset has been cancelled.
This is not the first time that Gooden has made headlines for the wrong reasons on weigh-in day. In March 2023, Gooden stepped in on three days’ notice to replace Abubakar Nurmagomedov for a bout with Carlston Harris. The short-notice booking did Gooden no favors as he ended up missing weight for the welterweight bout by six pounds. Harris went on to defeat Gooden via unanimous decision.
Other than Gooden, there were no weigh-in issues ahead of Saturday’s card. Heavyweight headliners Derrick Lewis (264) and Rodrigo Nascimento (265) both successfully made weight, as did co-main event welterweights Joaquin Buckley (170) and Nursulton Ruziboev (170.25).
