Leon Edwards and Colby Covington are just a day away from settling the score.
The UFC 296 headliners successfully made weight at Friday’s official weigh-ins, with the champion Edwards coming in at 170 pounds and Covington at 169.5 pounds. This marks Edwards’ second title defense after winning a rematch against Kamaru Usman this past March, while Covington chases undisputed champion status for a third time after previously losing to Usman twice.
Saturday’s co-main event also features a champion in action as Alexandre Pantoja defends his recently won flyweight title against Brandon Royval. Pantoja successfully weighed in at 125 pounds, with Royval just a notch below at 124.5 pounds.
This is a rematch of an August 2021 encounter in Las Vegas that Pantoja won by second-round submission.
Should one of the fighters be forced to withdraw from either the main or co-main event, two backups are prepared to step in. Top welterweight contender Belal Muhammad weighed in at 169.5 pounds for the main event, while two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno weighed in at 125 pounds on the dot for the co-main event.
All 24 fighters who stepped to the scale at the official weigh-ins successfully made weight.
